Keystone Innovation Collaborative (KIC) is proud to announce Keystone Combinator, a new ten-week accelerator for early-stage founders building companies in Pennsylvania. The program will welcome its first cohort of six to eight companies in Q1 2027. Official applications open in the coming weeks, and companies can preregister now here to be notified as soon as the full application page opens. Every company admitted will receive a $20,000 investment, and there is no program participation fee.
Based in York, Keystone Combinator combines weekly live programming with structured sprint work and access to mentors, expert advisors, and local investors. The program will conclude with a finale in-person Demo Day event with investors. Most weekly sessions can be attended virtually, so founders from across the Commonwealth can take part without relocating, though some preference will be given to companies with the capacity to participate weekly in-person. Three required milestone sessions are held in-person in York: the program kickoff, a mid-program review, and the finale Demo Day.
Why an equity investment accelerator, and why now:
Pennsylvania has real strength in the "first mile" of entrepreneurship: pitch competitions, grants, incubators, and university programs that help get an idea off the ground. The harder test is the "second mile," when a company has to prove repeatable sales, attract outside capital, and build the discipline to scale. Keystone Combinator is designed to help founders cross that gap, with ten weeks of focused work that leave each company with sharper proof points and a room full of people who now know the business exists.
That last part matters. Investors can't invest in companies they don't know exist. Demo Day puts each cohort in front of the investors, corporates, and partners KIC has spent the past year bringing together.
What founders can expect:
Capital, in two steps. $20,000 per company, invested in two $10,000 tranches. The first comes at kickoff. The second comes when the company completes the program.
A clear commitment. About sixteen hours per week: one evening of live programming and roughly twelve hours of sprint work.
Support beyond Demo Day. Alumni keep access to the growing KIC partner network, and KIC's standard investment documents are available free at Demo Day if founders want to accept additional follow-on investment under the same terms as the program offers.
We are deliberately upfront about the time commitment. Attendance and engagement is the single strongest predictor of whether a company gets real value from an equity accelerator program like this. If the timing isn't right for a particular team, we'd rather they apply again to a future cohort versus accept to join this one and struggle.
Pennsylvania doesn't have a shortage of founders; it has a shortage of structured paths from a good idea to a fundable company. Keystone Combinator is built to be one of those paths, and to hold every company to the same bar that an institutional investor anywhere would expect.
